Ancient Roman Chariot Figure
Ancient Roman Chariot Figure

In Rome they were to be seen in the Circus Maximus where 260,000 spectators were often present to see the dare-devil charioteer race seven times around the perilously tight track as seen in the famous epic, Ben Hur. The competition was fierce as the charioteers urged their horses onward. The chariot in this spectacular sculpture was copied from a Roman chariot which was reconstructed in the seventeenth century from actual pieces which had been found. It can now be seen in The Vatican Museum in Rome.
