Ganesh’s pot belly signifies the bounty of nature and swallows the sorrows of the Universe. Although he is known by many other attributes, Ganesha’s elephant head makes him easy to identify. Hindus worship idols, or statues, of their gods because it gives them a visible form to pray to.
Ganesh Chaturthi is a celebration of the birth of the beloved Hindu elephant headed god Lord Ganesha. Throughout this celebration Hindus all over the world join in prayers and pay their respects to Lord Ganesha.
